Clown Time, Italian Style

Once more into the breach with

The Gallery of the Absurd Goes to Italy!

Walking past a toy store in Naples, I saw this in the display window:
God...just imagine. The fear generated by this one image.

The Birth of Tintin

It ain't done, folks. It's time for more

The Gallery of the Absurd Goes to Italy!

The side of an ambulance in Procida, Italy:

Is someone looking to give birth to Tintin?

Green Is My Head

Yea! More fun with

The Gallery of the Absurd Goes to Italy!

The sign of a supermarket chain in Italy.

The green little friendly mascot is named Sisolo. I thought he was a head of broccoli, but apparently he's a tree.

Face the Face

And now it's time for another installment of

The Gallery of the Absurd Goes to Italy!

This is a display window of a small shop in Procida called Baby Chic:
What caught my attention was the expression on the little girl's face.
Insert fear inducing comment here.

Fashions for the Lethargic

Last week I went to Naples for a conference, and while there I kept my eyes open for Gallery material. So for the next several days I'll present a series of images I like to call,

The Gallery of the Absurd Goes to Italy!

I saw this large advertisement as soon as I entered the Naples airport:

I know that models are supposed to watch what they eat, so to keep (unnaturally) thin, but this dude doesn't even have the energy to stand up. Either that, or he just doesn't care.

Annoying J. Crew Model of the Week - 5/9/11

The Annoying J. Crew Model for the week of May 9th:

Can this woman get any thinner, more unhealthy looking?

Tea Party Pancakes

Turn off Rush Limbaugh and Fox News, unload your shotgun, close that bible, and put on the black face, it's time for this week's

RETRO-ADTIVITY

An advertisement from a 1920s issue of Good Housekeeping:
Ah...nothing like good old fashioned racism to start your weekend!

Morph Me

Check out the Morphsuits:
As the label says: "See through them! Drink through them! Party in them!"
I guess that after all of the drinking and partying, you can also pee through them.

Thanks to Kathy and Al Wirtes for reminding us how porous life can be.

Indigenous Lips

The Sauk Trail Car Wash sign in South Chicago Heights:

I'm not sure which is more disturbing: the blatant ethnic stereotype or the fact that the guy looks to be wearing bright red lipstick.

Dream Date Ken

I could make a comment about this display, but it would just seem too obvious.

Annoying J. Crew Model of the Week - 5/2/11

More crap from J. Crew's online "Meet the Guys" section:

Apparently, you have to stand on a box while holding a cup of coffee to be considered "special" at J. Crew.

Mano a Mano

Here's yet another commercial from the self-satisfying people at Shake Weight:
And you thought that only women had this kind of fun.

The faster you shake...

More more Shake Weight suggestiveness, see the Gallery entries for 4/17/11 and 1/2/10.

Unfortunate Timing

If you've watched the news this weekend, you know that Pope John Paul II has been exhumed and now beatified. With that in mind, I give you today's Gallery entry:

This unfortunate screen composition from 2005 is brought to you by CBS Birmingham, AL, affiliate WIAT, whose slogan (abbreviated in its call letters) is "It's about time."
